Verizon Wireless today announced that "Flash Lite for BREW," developed by Adobe Systems and Qualcomm, will allows Flash content to run on its high-end phones.
Allowing customers to purchase applications and automatically "Flash enable" their phones, software will be upgraded over-the-air with an automatic download when a customer accesses Flash-enabled content. In tandem with the rollout, Verizon is introducing enhanced content including new video games from Shockwave and graphic-rich applications from The Weather Channel and MovieGoer from Zingy.
The Verizon Wireless and Adobe relationship leverages the Flash ecosystem by offering maximum flexibility to the mobile developer community to create content including Flash applications, screensavers and casual games for the BREW solution.
Flash Lite for BREW utilizes the key features and benefits of the Flash authoring tool and the BREW platform, providing developers with a clear path to market for content distribution.
